Fall Philanthropy Dinner News

Our Pi Chi O’s have chosen a dream girl for their Dream Connection philanthropy event next semester. She is 15 year old Alanah Aldridge whose diagnosis is Hodgkins Lymphoma. Her dream is to visit Pompeii, Italy with her parents and sister. Our girls are hosting a fall fundraiser themed Alanah’s Trattoria, an Italian dinner at the Chi Omega house on Wednesday, November 8 from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 and include spaghetti, with two sauce and protein choices, chopped salad, garlic rolls, beverage and dessert (brownie or lemon pannacotta), plus live music by Jimmy’s Cheeks. We would love to see you there and you can buy tickets from any Chi Omega or contact Maggie Morgan at mmorga41@vols.utk.edu. Donations are also appreciated!

Special Guests

On April 20 & 21 we had 6 Chi Omega sisters (who are building new houses) visit our Pi Chapter house to tour our home and meet with the House Corporation Board, House Director and Chef. They enjoyed meals in the house by our excellent Chef Amber & staff.
Candy Brownlow explained the kitchen and dining room planning.
Mary Hugh Bedinger shared our planning process for the gardens & grounds.
Jabette Carlson shared the flexibility of the various spaces in the house for the events we host.
Cathy McIntyre arranged visits to other houses in Sorority Village.
We hosted a dessert on Thursday evening to meet and greet the visitors and meet the former GH, Letitia Fulkerson.

The visitors were from the following chapters :

Zeta Alpha – Ohio State University
Pi Alpha – University of Cincinnati

They commented about the Southern Hospitality they received.
Thanks to all who participated and made this visit very special for our sisters.

We were recently invited to the grand opening and dedication of the Pat Head Summitt House, Xi Zeta Chapter Chi Omega at the University of TN Martin on Saturday, April 8.

We tried to send a representative, but no one could go as it was Palm Sunday weekend.

I sent an arrangement and contacted the local florist for the order. I was fortunate that the owner of the flower shop was a special family friend of the Heads and took special notice of my order. He called me and assured me that the arrangement would be stunning and tasteful. He was invited to the Friday night sneak preview and said he would make our good wishes known to all of the Xi Zeta sisters. It is a small world and indeed, Chi Omega love was all around us!

Attached is the note we received from Xi Zeta.

Best Regards,
Joyce

Active Chapter News

For the third year in a row Chi Omega has won the coveted A.C.E. (All Campus Events) Cup at the University of Tennessee. The cup was awarded after Chi Omega won first place in All Sing for preforming songs from Les Miserables paired with Kappa Sigma Fraternity. They came in third at Carnicus and participated in Homecoming but did not win an award after their float had a tragic mishap with a low hanging branch along the parade route. To round out an award-winning year Chi Omega also was presented with the Grand Champion Trophy for Greek Week.
